New discussion groups for Dying Matters Week
CALL has two discussion groups next week for people affected by cancer or other long term illnesses, specially organised to coincide with Dying Matters Week (15th-22nd March).
The groups are at the Salvation Army Halls in Sale on Tuesday 16th March during the afternoon and at Mount Chapel in Salford on Wednesday 17th March in the afternoon.
Jenny Benson, general manager for CALL, says: “Dying Matters Week is all about raising awareness about death and dying, because as a society it is not something that we talk about. We therefore don’t discuss our own choices for end of life care with family and friends, which can hamper our choices when that time comes.
“Dying Matters Week is all about discussing this taboo subject – to talk through your options for care at the end of life. We encourage anyone who would like to speak about this, or anything to do with cancer or other long term illnesses, to come along to one of these groups – everyone is welcome.”
The Dying Matters Coalition was set up in 2009 by the National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC) to promote public awareness of dying, death and bereavement.
