CALL News

New Name:  From now you might notice CALL also being referred to as CALLplus.
In for a penny...:  Sometimes it is hard to put a figure on what buys what in a charity that provides services rather than buying ‘things’ such as medical equipment. However we at CALL believe it is important that you know how your money is used to support people with cancer and other life-limiting illness, their carers and families.

Who is this information for?

This page is for Health and Social Care Professionals including Service Commissioners, GPs, District Nurses, Specialist Cancer Nurses, Social Workers, Physiotherapists and anyone else working with people who may benefit from our services. It explains what CALL can offer your patients and their carers.

You can hear about the relationship between CALL and NHS services such as physiotherapy. Jill Bailey Senior Lecturer of Physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University asked Karen Mercer from CALL about the support that is provided. You can click here to listen.

CALL offers one-to-one support at home for those with cancer or other life-limiting illnesses, carers and families. Current areas of operation are Manchester, Stockport, Trafford, and Salford.

CALL is actively seeking to provide services for residents of all areas of Greater Manchester.

What does CALL do?

Support is provided by volunteers who have undergone a mandatory training course. Volunteers receive additional training after a period of volunteering.

All volunteers have the ongoing support of a professional manager based in their area of operation.

Services undergo annual evaluation and clients are re-assessed every six months to ensure services continue to meet need.

How do I refer my patient to CALL?

To refer a patient fill in the online form or telephone 0845 123 23 29. Messages may be left out of hours or if the line is busy.

Once someone has been referred they will typically follow CALL’s Client Pathway.
