CALL News

New Name:  From now you might notice CALL also being referred to as CALLplus.
In for a penny...:  Sometimes it is hard to put a figure on what buys what in a charity that provides services rather than buying ‘things’ such as medical equipment. However we at CALL believe it is important that you know how your money is used to support people with cancer and other life-limiting illness, their carers and families.

Fundraising Volunteers Wanted

There has been much in the news recently about Local Government income being cut and the NHS re-organised to allow patients and GP's to have a greater voice in its organisation. Both these changes will probably affect CALL.

This year we have been informed of small cuts and we expect there to be further cuts during the next year. As yet we have no information about how the transition from PCT to GP Consortia funding will be managed and this, at the moment is of great concern.

We are continuing look for new opportunities for CALL and have recently launched Stroke Patient Support Project in Trafford, we will also be continuing to apply for grants and look for other sources of funding.

We would also like to increase our community fund raising by recruiting more fund-raising volunteers. We hope that these additional volunteers will help us organise community based fund-raising events and in doing so will not only raise money for CALL but raise our profile in the local community.

Please contact CALL if you think you or someone you know could help with fundraising in the community.

Trustees Wanted

Location: Greater Manchester

CALL is seeking new Trustees to strengthen an accomplished Board who will share our enthusiasm for serving the members of this community. In particular, we are seeking people with marketing, human resources or diversity expertise. We're keen to ensure that the Board's composition reflects that of our staff and client base, and therefore applications with personal experience of cancer will be of particular interest. Trustees are expected to attend up to six Board meetings in a year and there is the possibility to serve on sub-committees. Trustee positions are voluntary but travel and other expenses are met.

All volunteers are legally required to undergo Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced (CRB) checks before undertaking any role with CALL.
